It's always been said, that humans don't pick their four legged children, but the child picks them. In our case, that is exactly what happened.
The day I saw the ad in the paper, it was a Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m. I don't think the gentleman was pleased with me when I called him immediately after reading the ad asking if they had any males left in their 6 week old German Shepherd mix litter.
They did, but the gentleman asked if I could please come a little later than 7:00 a.m.! Upon arriving at the home, we saw the cutest little fluff balls imaginable. We inspected each and every one of them but none of them appeared to be a male. After about an hour of interacting with the puppies, we selected a cute little female to take home. After paying the fee, we were getting ready to walk away and this other little puppy came barrelling toward us, knocking over the other remaining siblings that were in the way. This little puppy immediately started chewing on my shoe laces!
So, I handed the little girl I had in my hands to my daughter and picked this little one up. It was a MALE! Needless to say the little girl was left with her litter and Bullet came home with us and lived for almost 14 years.
One of the smartest and most loving dogs we have ever known. We still miss you terribly Bullie, but know you are with us through the signs you leave time and again.
Love you forever
