So sorry that Bridget has passed. I know that you are feeling the loss of a good friend and constant companion. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Kristine, I think the love of a rescue dog is stronger, their play happier, and their cuddles more heart-felt than that of a "bought" dog. They know what means to not have a human to love them so they appreciate every second they have with you in their safe "furever" home. Bridget was blessed when your daughter found her and you were blessed when you opened your heart to her. You were true to the end and allowed your dear friend to pass peacefully to that magical land of endless bones, tummy rubs and a zillion squirrels to chase. Prayers and gentle hugs, sweet friend. P.S. I'll bet you a cookie that Jerry is playing catch with her right now!
