We lost our sweet goofy boy Boone this morning to congestive heart failure. Smart, playful, and talkative - he would do anything for hugs, belly rubs, ear scratches and play time.
Our big, beautiful friendly Bluepoint Siamese fur baby, who loved people and ran to the door when to doorbell rang to greet whoever was there; is gone at 13 years.
Boone was a snuggler.... every night after I went to bed, he crawled into my arms to purr and cuddle and knead my arm. Sometimes he slept that way for a while and at other times he couldn’t quite get in the right position in my arms and moved over to Art to lick his mustache to see if he could wake up his daddy up to cuddle.
Boone was born during the Superbowl on Feb 6, 2006.He was smart and cunning and VERY food driven. When he was 5 months old, he got upset when we were sound asleep in bed and not awake to feed him at 4AM; Boone went into the kitchen cupboard and found a bag of cat food and dragged it upstairs to our bedroom. I woke up to a loud crackling and meowing and saw Boone at the foot of the bed standing over the bag of food and chewing on it like it was prey.
Boone and his litter mate sister Bandit used to call to each other if there were stressed or something was wrong. Out vets always told us it was "loud" when they were getting their shots.
If Bandit had a hairball the entire house heard her weird “bugling” meow and Boone would run to her side to lick her head and make sure she was ok.
Boone's favorite past time was watching the birds and squirrels in our back yard through our big sliding doors. He had a cat bed in front of the window, and he would sit and sleep there all day. In recent years we have had night visitations through our neighbors’ fence from possums, raccoon and feral cats. Boone would spend hours at night sticking his head through the blinds and chattering at the nighttime visitors. He was so obsessed that when we were rushing out of the house for his first emergency visit last December, we couldn't find him. he had dragged himself to the door to see if there critters outside.
Rest in peace my baby, you were the light of our lives and made us laugh almost every day.
